The Père Lachaise cemetery with war damage after German bombing in WW1.
Between March and April 1918, Paris and the banlieues were attacked by a long range cannon known as the "Fat Bertha". A total of 256 civilians died and 620 were injured. The most terrible attack took place on the Saint-Gervais church during Friday mass (see https://www.re.photos/en/compilation/4088/ ).
On April 13, at 1 a.m., the Père Lachaise cemetery was also hit, with wreaked havoc on the 22nd and 66th divisions.
