Rue Grande in Moret-sur-Loing, with the medieval Porte de Samois in the background.
The street forms the town’s historic main thoroughfare and connects the two city gates, including the Porte de Bourgogne.

On the left is the site of the current town hall; the section visible in the old photo appears to still be part of the previous building. The current town hall was built in 1910 in the Neo-Gothic style.

It is striking that several buildings were demolished or significantly altered over the course of the 20th century. For example, the house on the right in the image was replaced by a building in a historicist neo-half-timbered style; the building with the turret visible in the old photo also no longer exists today. This created more space in front of City Hall.

While Rue Grande used to be a typical residential and commercial street, it is now heavily influenced by tourism, with cafés, restaurants, and shops.
