View of Amboise from the banks of the Loire, with the mighty castle on the hill. It was often used as royal residence in the 15th /16th century. Francis I grew up here and brought Leonardo da Vinci to the court, who spent his last years in a nearby castle and is buried in the small chapel (whose ridge turret can be seen here).
