View of Nuremberg Castle from the outer courtyard. Dating back to around the year 1000, it served as an imperial residence and is one of Germany’s most historically significant castles.
From left to right, you can see the pentagonal tower (one of the oldest surviving structures on the grounds), the Walpurgis Chapel, the fountain house, and the secretariat building.

During World War II, the castle was severely damaged by air raids and was rebuilt in the postwar years faithful to its historical model. In the new photo, there are hardly any noticeable differences from its prewar condition.
