Der römisch-katholische Dom St. Peter in Osnabrück ist die Kathedrale des Bistums Osnabrück. Der Dom ist ein spätromanisches Bauwerk und prägt seit seiner Entstehung die Silhouette der Stadt. Im Abstand von mehr als anderthalb Jahrhunderten gingen die gotischen Turmhelme der Westtürme verloren und wurden durch barocke Hauben ersetzt, 1606 der nördliche, 1769–1771 der südliche. At intervals of more than a century and a half, the Gothic spires of the west towers were lost and replaced by Baroque cupolas: the northern one in 1606, and the southern one between 1769 and 1771. During World War II, the cathedral roof, along with the Baroque cupolas and church annexes, was destroyed by incendiary bombs. During the reconstruction, the towers were given low pyramidal roofs, which emphasize the predominantly Romanesque character of the church's exterior.
