Seine banks seen from Pont Alexandre III, at the time of the great World Exposition of 1900. More than 76,000 exhibitors were represented on a 216-hectare exhibition area. Exhibit pavilions specially designed for this purpose were devoted to various nations, or they dealt with handicrafts, scientific areas and technical innovations.
To the front one can see the Pont des Invalides, in the front left was the Italian pavilion, in the front right the pavilion of the city of Paris. On the Chaillot hill in the background inthroned the Palais du Trocadero.
