The "Pod Modrym Fartuchem" inn (English: "At the Blue Apron") on the New Town Market Square in Toruń looks back on a long tradition. According to tradition, its history dates back to 1489, while the present Baroque building originates from the 18th century.

Historically, the tavern was a popular meeting place for craftsmen, guilds, and journeymen. The name stems from the blue aprons worn by artisans at work. Over the centuries, prominent guests also stayed here - including several Polish kings as well as Napoleon Bonaparte in 1807.

During the interwar period, the building was severely neglected. Under German occupation in World War II, improper alterations – such as tearing down interior walls – destabilized the structure. However, after 1945, the property underwent extensive restoration and reconstruction. Since then, the inn has once again established itself as a popular gathering spot for locals, students, and tourists.

Today, the building is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Old Town of Toruń. It continues to operate as a restaurant, serving traditional Polish specialties in a historic atmosphere.
