The Mont Saint Michel is inhabited since the 8th century. In 1879, the island was connected via a street with the mainland. Between 1901 and 1939 a steam engine was driving parallel to the street. In 1944 the tracks were removed.
2014, a new bridge as well as a hydraulic dam were constructed to prevent silting-up of the bay.
Le Mont Saint Michel est habité depuis le 8ème siècle. En 1879, l'île était reliée par une rue au continent. Entre 1901 et 1939, une machine à vapeur roulait parallèlement à la rue. En 1944, les pistes ont été enlevées.
En 2014, un nouveau pont ainsi qu'un barrage hydraulique ont été construits pour empêcher l'envasement de la baie.
