The town hall of Poitiers was built between 1869 and 1875. Its construction fell within the context of a restructuring plan of the city with a large boulevard leading to the town hall, inspired by the Haussmannian restructurings in Paris. Its façade is typical of the Second Empire style (such as the Opéra Garnier in Paris and the Bourse in Brussels).
La mairie de Poitiers fut construite entre 1869 et 1875.
