Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel and the Louvre, around 1900 and today.
The arch was built in 1807-1809 at the behest of Napoleon to honor the Grande Armée. The courtyard of the Louvre, which is today dominated by the glass pyramid (built in the 80s under Mitterand) was then decorated by a statue of the statesman Leon Gambetta and a small garden.

Arc de triomphe du Carrousel et du Louvre, vers 1900 et aujourd'hui.
L'arc a été construit en 1807-1809 sur l'ordre de Napoléon pour honorer la Grande Armée. La cour du Louvre, qui est aujourd'hui dominée par la pyramide de verre (construite dans les années 80 sous Mitterand), a ensuite été décorée par une statue de l'homme d'État Léon Gambetta et un petit jardin.
