Construite en 1846, l'ancien bâtiment de la gare de Bruxelles-Luxembourg a été le témoin de la construction d'institutions européennes autour de lui, notamment avec la création de l'espace Léopold dès 1990. La même année, le bâtiment de la gare d'origine fut classée, permettant à sa façade de pierre bleue de trôner sur la place encore aujourd'hui.

L'esplanade entre la gare du Luxembourg et le Parlement européen est devenue, en cinq ans, la troisième attraction touristique la plus prisée à Bruxelles.

Built in 1846, the old building of the Brussels-Luxembourg station witnessed the construction of European institutions around it, in particular with the creation of the Léopold space in 1990.
